Lyndsey Olsen
Artistic Director | Chamber Choir & Ensemble Conductor
Lyndsey has been fortunate to have spent most of her life singing in choirs and studying choral music, and has found the greatest joy in sharing this love for the choral music experience with young singers. Lyndsey holds a Bachelor of Education with a focus in Choral Music from the University of Alberta and a Masters of Music in Choral Conducting from California State University Los Angeles. She spent 10 years teaching as an Elementary Music Specialist with Edmonton Catholic Schools, and currently directs the choral music program at Archbishop MacDonald High School (Concert Choir and MACappella), as well as the ECSD All-City High School Choir. Lyndsey has been with EYV since the very beginning in 2011, and directed various other children’s choirs in the city and surrounding areas before that. She also maintained a private voice studio for many years. Lyndsey enjoys opportunities to hear other choirs around the city and province as she adjudicates festivals and leads clinics and workshops.
Lyndsey is dedicated to creating connection and community within her choirs, challenging singers’ skills and thinking with excellent repertoire, nurturing and inspiring singers’ love for choral music, and providing the best vocal and music education she can. She truly believes that singing together and sharing music with others is a force for good in our world, and she is continually amazed by the young people she works with. When she finishes singing with her choirs, she goes home to sing with her three girls, Elysse, Chanelle, and Laurenne (all of whom sing in EYV!). She also loves bike rides, slow snowboarding on wide open runs, and cooking and eating with her family!
